Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 1988) was an American actress, singer, and dancer. Her early roles on Broadway included in musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. The actress was awarded her Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in the Play to play Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor as well as director, has spent the bulk of her professional career working alongside well-known directors and actors on stage and screen. Ashford can be seen next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford's current film is Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust and he will be starring with Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to stream on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford, who will appear opposite Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in the March 2023 revival of Stephen Sondheims Sweeney Todd. This production will be led by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team which brought you Hamilton. Ashford was most recently seen as Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment that is based upon the nation's crisis, which swept into Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment proceedings in over one century. Two seasons ago, Ashford played a prominent role in CBS's hit series B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as well as Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role as Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway credits. Ashford, who was brought up in Denver is now based in Los Angeles and New York.
